Stuart's Story

About Stuart

I am passionate about Penrith. I went to school at St Dominic’s in Kingswood and McCarthy Catholic College in Emu Plains. As a keen sportsman, I was a founding member of the Penrith Valley Sports Foundation and played 200 games for the local footy club.

I’m all about making sure Penrith has the strongest possible voice in the NSW Parliament.

Since being elected we have delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars to support local community groups. Improved service delivery at Nepean Hospital and significantly invested in capital upgrades, including a new car parking, Oral Health Centre and high-end medical robots. Stage 1 of the $1 billion redevelopment of Nepean Hospital is complete with patients and staff moving in stages to the new 14 storey tower. The tower, Penrith’s tallest landmark and one of the tallest hospital buildings in Australia includes an expanded emergency department, 18 birthing suites, a neo-natal intensive care unit, 17 new operating theatres, more than 200 additional beds and a rooftop helipad.  Construction on Stage 2 which includes a new clinical building and front of house for the hospital is due to commence later this year. This once in a generational investment will deliver enhanced health care outcomes and evolve as our community grows.

The widening of the Jane Street and Mulgoa Road intersection underneath the rail line is now complete and it has completely changed the flow of traffic through that area. It is a fantastic build with extra lanes, a new rail bridge and much safer conditions with improved travel times across our city.

On the sporting front, the new synthetic fields at Jamison Park have been completed and they are having a huge impact, allowing more games to be played, particularly when existing fields are affected by wet weather. Construction has commenced on Penrith’s first synthetic athletics track at Harold Corr Oval and the upgrades at Eileen Cammack Reserve, Parker Street Reserve, Hickeys Lane Fields are all underway.

New multipurpose halls have been delivered for Kingswood High School, Jamison High School, Nepean CAPA High School, the new learning centre at Cranbrook High school has been completed, flashing lights have been installed at all schools and local schools are benefiting with millions of extra dollars through the new needs based funding model.  These fantastic new facilities will benefit the staff, students and the communities that utilise them for years to come.

Construction of the new $80 million Institute of Applied Technology is underway at Kingswood; this is one of the first two institutes of applied technology to be established in New South Wales. It is an important new form of education that brings tertiary education, industry and TAFE closer together to fill a gap that has emerged over time between the traditional TAFE model and universities. It will focus on construction, and there is a large amount of construction activity happening across western Sydney, with the new Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project, the roads program, the Western Sydney Airport and all the commercial land rezoning for new jobs, lots of commercial buildings and new homes. It is about making sure that there is a jobs dividend for the people of western Sydney, with billions of dollars in infrastructure going to the area.

Massive upgrades to our parks are on-going, including Tench Reserve and Regatta Park. Tench Reserve is one of our most loved local outdoor spaces and the upgrade will see the creation of a new amphitheatre, inclusive play-space and improvements to the Nepean River Walk. The redevelopment of the old Policeman’s Cottage is nearing completion and we will see this wonderful old cottage on the edge of the Nepean River turned into a café.  These upgrades will bring the river precinct to life. The new 7,000sqm City Park scheduled for completion in early 2023 will be a fantastic shared open green space offering residents and workers a place to gather in the heart of the Penrith CBD.

The NSW Government is continuing with providing new and upgraded facilities and services for the people of Penrith.

The more I hear from you the stronger our voice in Parliament.

It is a new and exciting time in Penrith with so many things happening and together we can give Penrith the leadership it deserves.
