Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres encourages all young people in the Penrith area to join the celebrations during Youth Week 2013. The NSW Government has given a quarter-of-a-million-dollar boost to local councils across the State as they gear up to celebrate Youth Week 2013 in April
Through Youth Week, the NSW Government wants to encourage young people aged 12 to 25 years to play a greater role in their communities and to encourage people from different backgrounds to come together and get involved.
Whether it’s organising music concerts and film festivals, or participating in leadership workshops and sport competitions, we want all young people in NSW to take part.
“Activities such as these, organised with the help of local councils, not only encourage disengaged youth to get involved, but assist all young people to develop skills that they may utilise later in life.” Mr Ayres said.
This year Youth Week will run from 5 to 14 April with the theme ‘Be Active. Be Happy. Be You’.
Events to be held in the Penrith area include:
- Penrith PCYC Time4Kids
- Nepean Community and Neighbourhood Services – Be Active Be You
- ImagineNations Youth: The Young and Bold Festival
- The Mondo M Factor
- Valley Youth Festival
“We are lucky to have a diverse population of young people in the Penrith area and Youth Week celebrates that diversity.\” said Mr Ayres
