Work Starts on Glenbrook Intersection Upgrade

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today announced that improved safety is on the way for motorists at Glenbrook with work to start on the Glenbrook intersection upgrade.

Stuart Ayres said the Australian and NSW governments are upgrading the Great Western Highway and Ross Street intersection as part of the Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan, a 10 year $3.6 billion road investment program.

“The Glenbrook intersection upgrade will improve safety and access along the Great Western Highway, while enhancing the primary gateway to Glenbrook Village,” Stuart Ayres said.

“The upgrade will involve providing new traffic lights at Ross Street to enable safe right turns onto the Great Western Highway.

“The project includes extending the right turn bays on the Great Western Highway entering Hare Street and Ross Street.

“Hare Street, between Wascoe Street and the Great Western Highway, will be closed to general traffic once the Ross Street lights are switched on, to improve safety for motorists.

“Importantly, emergency vehicles will still be able to access the Great Western Highway from Hare Street with the use of a mountable kerb.”

Stuart Ayres said the upgrade will help improve safety and access, for local residents, business operators and visitors to the Glenbrook area.

“This investment shows the government is committed to building better roads and investing in the region’s future.”

Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday and is expected to be completed by December 2018, weather permitting.

Changed traffic conditions will be in place during the work and motorists are advised to plan ahead and follow the direction of traffic control
