Hundreds of jobs are headed to the Western Parkland City with a major milestone reached in the construction of new and premium office accommodation located in the heart of Penrith.
A topping out ceremony was held at the $90 million 50 Belmore Street development on Friday, marking the completion of the main building structure.
The ceremony was accompanied by an announcement that NSW Government agency the Western Parkland City Authority (WPCA) will be relocating to the new building from its current head office in Parramatta which fulfils a 2019 election commitment.
Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Tourism and Sport, and Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres was joined by WPCA Chair Jennifer Westacott AO and Penrith Deputy Mayor John Thain to celebrate the milestone.
“This project perfectly encapsulates the commitment of the NSW Government to creating and supporting jobs in the Western Parkland City,” Mr Ayres said.
“By 2035 the Western Parkland City will account for more than a quarter of NSW’s population growth and it is imperative that we put jobs at the centre of that growth.
“Developments such as 50 Belmore Street will ensure that residents have access to local employment opportunities and the chance to drive economic growth in their own communities.”
WPCA Chair Jennifer Westacott said the agency was thrilled with the opportunity to relocate to Penrith.
“The opportunity to move our office into this fantastic new building in Penrith is one we’re all excited about,” Ms Westacott said.
“Being based in Penrith will ensure we’re fully integrated in the community that we serve, and within easy reach of Bradfield City Centre, the Aerotropolis and Western Sydney International Airport.
“This prime location will allow us to work side-by-side with a number of our major stakeholders and directly engage with the community as we help deliver Australia’s greenest, most connected and technologically advanced city.”
Due for completion later this year, the eight-storey 50 Belmore Street development will provide 10,700 square metres of commercial space while boasting a five-star NABERS and Green Star rating.
