Thank Unpaid Carers with a Nomination for a 2014 Nsw Carer Award

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith has today encouraged the people of Penrith to submit a nomination for the 2014 NSW Carers Awards.


“More than one in 10 people in NSW are unpaid carers and it is important for us as a community to show our appreciation for the role they play in enhancing the health and wellbeing of others,” Stuart Ayres said.


The NSW Carers Awards acknowledge and celebrate the significant contribution unpaid carers make in supporting those people who need care because of disability, mental illness, chronic health condition, dementia or because they are frail and aged.


Nominations are sought across NSW in the following categories:


Carers Award – Individual



  • For individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to caring

Carers Award – Organisation



  • For community groups, government agencies, or other organisations who provide exceptional support to carers.

Nominations can be made online at www.facs.nsw.gov.au/carersawards until Monday 30 June 2014.


Up to 60 individual carers and up to 20 organisations will be honoured with an award during Carers Week which runs from 12 – 18 October 2014.


Highly commended award recipients will be invited by Hon John Ajaka MLC, Minister for Disability Services to a State ceremony on 13 October 2014.  The 2014 Carer of the Year will be announced during this ceremony.
