The NSW Government has partnered with the Singapore Government to showcase Sydney as a global fintech hub through the World FinTech Festival, part of the Singapore FinTech Festival 2021, which runs from 8-12 November.
Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney and Minister for Trade and Industry Stuart Ayres said Sydney is a fitting host city for events during the festival.
“With 60 per cent of Australia’s fintech companies located in Sydney, the city has become a global hub for technological excellence, a financial services engine room and a natural incubator for the sector,” Mr Ayres said.
“Sydney’s thriving fintech industry has seen some incredible innovations over the past 12 months and we’re excited to showcase these across eight events with leading experts to a global audience of over 60,000 people across 160 countries.
“We’ve teamed up with event partner Stone & Chalk, a key player in Sydney’s fintech ecosystem, to showcase emerging sectors including open banking, consumer data rights, real-time payments, neobanking and Backend-as-a-Service through live panels and fireside chats with leaders from the Sydney ecosystem.”
The NSW Government’s Going Global Export Program has supported many fintech businesses with free export coaching, tailored workshops, business matching and introductions to new international customers, helping local companies make the step up to the global stage.
Throughout the festival, the 2021 NSW Going Global Export Program will showcase over 10 NSW businesses to new and emerging fintech-savvy countries. Those included are Equitise, Limepay, Succession Plus, Curious Thing, Enteruptors, ProofTec, Truuth ID, Ignition Advice, Hive Empire, Paytron and Finder.
“Despite COVID-19 restrictions, we are making sure NSW companies can participate in trade shows overseas and have virtual one-on-one business meetings with new international customers and distributers and the Singapore Fintech Festival is just one of the ways we are doing this.”
CEO and Founder of ProofTec Danny Cohen said the NSW Going Global Export Program is an incredible opportunity for fintech startups to gain exposure to international markets such as Singapore.
“The program provides unparalleled access to local market knowledge and really prepares a start-up for expansion into global markets,” Mr Cohen said.
