Member for Penrith, Mr Stuart Ayres MP, Mr Bart Bassett MP, Member for Londonderry and Ms Roza Sage MP, Member for the Blue Mountains today met with Ms Hania Radvan CEO of the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre to announce details of local community Christmas concerts for seniors in Penrith.
“I am pleased to announce today, that two free Christmas Concerts will be held at the Joan Sutherland Theatre, Penrith,” Mr Ayres said.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise local seniors. These concerts are a small way we can thank them for their valued and ongoing contribution to NSW and our local community.” Said Mr Bassett
Ms Sage said “This year, the NSW Government is staging Christmas concerts for seniors in regional areas and outer metropolitan Sydney for the first time, giving seniors across the State the opportunity to enjoy these popular events”
The Penrith Christmas concerts will be held at 10.30am and 2.30pm on Tuesday 26 November 2013. Tickets will only be available at The Joan box office from 10.00am on Monday 21 October 2013.
“I’m delighted that The Joan can host this important event. We operate in a region with a large population of seniors, we aim to be the destination of choice for social activity, entertainment and inclusion for seniors”, said Ms Radvan.
Minister for Ageing and Disability Services John Ajaka said this year’s concerts will have a ‘country’ theme.
“We are looking forward to presenting this year’s concerts, themed ‘A Country Christmas’ Mr Ajaka said.
“I urge local seniors to get their tickets early and prepare for Christmas by enjoying some of the fine entertainment planned,” Mr Ajaka said.
The 2014 Seniors Week concerts will be presented at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in March 2014.
This concert series in Sydney has been expanded from three concerts to five concerts, allowing up to 50,000 seniors the chance to attend.
