Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith welcomes the announcement that Penrith City Council, with funding support from the NSW Government’s Your High Street Program has started upgrade works at Bringelly Road, Kingswood.
The NSW Government launched the Your High Street Program to support councils in transforming high streets to make them more welcoming.
Stuart Ayres said, “This is about bringing our local high street areas to life, creating better public space for the community and supporting local businesses.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic has helped shift our perception of streets as more than just places to drive. Your High Street cements the role of our streets as places for our communities where people gather, socialise, dine and do business.
“This revitalisation at Bringelly Road will improve the street amenity with enhancements including seating, artworks, lighting and footpath replacement.”
The Your High Street program aims to:
- Improve/increase number of uses over day and night
- Improve safety and comfort for people
- Improve local accessibility and connections
- Increase footfall and capacity for trade for businesses
The program supports the delivery of the Premier’s Priority to increase the proportion of homes in urban areas within 10 minutes’ walk of quality green, open and public space.
