Penrith Welcomes New Venturer Scout Unit

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith recently joined Aaron Wardle, Regional Venturer Commissioner, Tony Dent, Acting District Commissioner and Darren Drysdale, 1st South Penrith Group Leader for the investitures of new leaders, Elizabeth Vanderjagt and Andrew Cross during the launch of the new 1st South Penrith Venturer (Scout) Unit.

“It was my pleasure to participate in the launch and to welcome the new leaders,” said Stuart Ayres.

“Elizabeth and Andrew are to be congratulated on taking on these roles and for volunteering their time to ensure the new Venturer Unit is a success”

The new 1st South Penrith Venturer unit has started up with 6 invested youth members who recently completed their Scouting journey and undertook the link up process with 1st Blaxland Venturers whilst the new leaders completed their training.

The unit is now up and running with meetings each Wednesday night during the school term at the 1st South Penrith Scout Hall.

Elizabeth Vanderjagt said with another 12 youth members linking up from Scouts in coming months the new Unit is off to a terrific start.  We also welcome any new members and no Scouting background is required.

Andrew said we have a terrific group of boys and girls with common interests; they are all keen to join in the activities and strive to achieve the prestigious Queen Scout Award.

Venturers is for 15 – 18 year olds and offers fun, adventure and personal challenges.  Members are offered opportunities to participate in activities such as camping, canoeing, abseiling, undertaking leadership and management courses, all whilst having fun and making new friends.

Venturers plan and manage their own programs however adult leaders are always on hand to offer advice and guidance.
