Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today met and congratulated the recipients of the Penrith 2015 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards.
“The seniors awarded today represent the diversity of talent, generosity of spirit and limitless energy of seniors in Penrith,” said Stuart Ayres.
“Seniors deserve recognition for the important contribution they make across so many different areas of community life”.
Individual recipients include:
Mrs Josephine Reeds – dedication and commitment to the Nepean Valley RSL Day Club
- Mrs Elaine Wade – dedication to the Penrith RSL Womens Auxiliary
- Mrs Grace Selway- care and wellbeing of seniors through the Penrith Valley Senior Centre
U3A Nepean Blue Mountains have also been recognised with an award in the category of Lifelong Learning.
Stuart Ayres congratulated the recipients and thanked them for the commitment and generosity they demonstrate to their local community.
The NSW Seniors Week Local Achievement Awards are just one way the NSW Government is recognising seniors in the lead up to 2015 NSW Seniors Week, which is being held from 14 – 22 March.
An estimated 250,000 seniors are expected to attend more than 1,000 local events throughout the state during the week.
The activities support the objectives of the NSW Ageing Strategy, which was launched to support the health and wellbeing of seniors.
