Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today joined Rob Stokes, Minister for Education to announce that Penrith Public School will be upgraded and a new environmental education centre at Penrith Lakes will be built with funding provided through this year’s NSW Government Budget.

The upgrade at Penrith Public School will considerably increase the number of teaching spaces allowing greater capacity for the school community.

A new hall for Kingswood High School is also planned and a new Primary School will be built at Jordan Springs.

These projects are a part of the NSW Government’s record commitment to education across the state, which will see a record $4.2 billion invested into new and existing school projects over the next four years, including $2.2 billion worth of new projects commencing in the next two years.

Since coming to office in 2011 the NSW Liberal-Nationals Government has announced a new environmental education centre and two major school upgrades in the Penrith electorate alone.

Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres welcomed the funding for the projects to meet the needs of local students.

“These projects will help provide the education facilities our community needs and deserves,” Mr Ayres said.

“I’m pleased the NSW Government is delivering these much-needed resources for the education of our children.”

Education Minister Rob Stokes said NSW public schools are expected to enrol an additional 164,000 students by 2031, and these school projects will provide improved and expanded learning environments for the growing student population.

“These projects will ensure students and staff have the resources they need to succeed in the 21st century,” Mr Stokes said.

“The NSW Government is working hard to provide high-quality education facilities for students and their communities now and into the future.”

Early planning will begin in the coming months on the scope of works for the projects. Final funding for the projects will be confirmed after the tender process for works has been completed.
