In a major boost for sport in Penrith, residents are celebrating the completion of an $850,000 upgrade to Leonay Oval, with $750,000 funded by the NSW Government.
The upgrades include an extension to the amenities building to include a new storeroom, canteen and awning, as well as the installation of LED floodlighting on the two full size rugby league fields, mini field, athletics track and field facilities.
Stuart Ayres said he was delivering on his promise to provide upgraded sporting facilities for Penrith residents.
“I know just how much the Penrith community loves sport and providing upgraded facilities which benefit the local Penrith and wider community is one of my key priorities,” Stuart Ayres said.
Stephen Chester, President of Emu Plains JRLFC said with over 600 registered players these upgrades to our fields and amenities are a great win for our all players.
Stuart Ayres said whether you play rugby league or athletics or just want to get out and kick a ball around for fun, everyone will benefit from the NSW Government’s investment in this upgrade.
“Sport and active recreation offer many benefits, including teaching resilience and teamwork, as well as encouraging friendship and building self-confidence.”
