Penrith Resident Recognised

Member for Penrith Mr Stuart Ayres, congratulated and presented Gai Hawthorn with the 2012 NSW Community Service Award.

\”I was pleased to present this award to Gai for her tireless work in the Penrith Community, not only as the Manager of Penrith City Centre Association but also as an active volunteer to assist the homeless and disadvantaged through United Way Penrith Community Fund \”Mr Ayres said.

\”Gai is the Vice Chairperson for United Way Penrith Community Fund which is a non profit organisation that raises awareness and funds for those in need within our community. Gai’s dedication and compassion to assist the homeless and disadvantaged in Penrith is exceptional.\” Mr Ayres said.

\”Gai organises and co-ordinates her time and energy between her family, her duties as the Manager of Penrith City Centre Association and United Way Penrith Community Fund. The dedication this requires is remarkable and I congratulate and thank her for the important work she continues to do on a daily basis within our community.\” Mr Ayres said.

\”Gai is a strong supporter of the Penrith Community Kitchen and has volunteered her time with the Ministries of the Rock Church Group serving meals for the homeless at Kingswood Railway station. Gai is well respected and appreciated within the local community and deserves recognition for her continued efforts in making Penrith a better place.\”Mr Ayres said.
