Member for Penrith Mr Stuart Ayres MP congratulated and presented Yvonne Lawrence with a Local Carers Award as part of the NSW Carers Awards 2013.
“It was my pleasure to present this award to Yvonne for the work she does caring for her daughter, Marie” said Mr Ayres. “Marie has an intellectual disability and cardiac problems that often require hospitalisation. Yvonne is devoted to ensuring Marie has the best quality of life”
“Yvonne now 86, always puts the needs of her daughter ahead of her own and still finds time to help others as an advocate for disability services in the area.” Mr Ayres said.
“The dedication this requires is commendable and I congratulate and thank all carers for the important work they continue to do on a daily basis within our community.” Mr Ayres said.
Carers Week runs between 13-19 October 2013 and is an opportunity for the community to acknowledge the significant contribution of carers who provide regular support to those who need it because of disability, mental illness, a chronic health condition dementia or aging.
