Nsw Hits the Accelerator on Securing Supercars Events Across the State

NSW continues to reinforce its profile as a globally renowned destination for motorsport, with the NSW Government supporting a number of key events as part of a new long-term agreement with Supercars Australia.

The high-octane action – including the opening round of the 2021 Supercars Series, the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2022-2025, and the Sydney SuperNight 2021-2025 – will draw fans from around the country and ensure the state’s appeal to the thousands of national and international viewers remains strong, amidst the current COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The funding support for these events, which is managed though the tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, also includes a strategic sponsorship of the Bathurst 1000 for the next five years.

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the announcement reinforces the NSW Government’s commitment to rebuilding the NSW visitor economy by investing in events across the state.

“We’re so proud to have secured this highly-anticipated suite of events. Motorsport events across Australia and around the world drive huge attendances and broadcast viewers, so it’s a big win for NSW to continue hosting some of the country’s most exciting, high-profile Supercars events for the next five years,” Mr Ayres said.

“It’s also fantastic to see night racing return to Sydney Motorsport Park on the back of the NSW Government’s $33 million investment to refresh the venue.

“Whether you made it to Bathurst on the weekend for the legendary Great Race, or you’re looking forward to any of these other fantastic events including the action packed Sydney SuperNight in Western Sydney, we are excited to welcome drivers, officials, support staff and importantly, their fans to NSW for what is set to be a thrilling number of years in NSW motorsports,” Mr Ayres said.
