Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today joined Stephen McIntyre, CEO of Wentworth Community Housing to announce that Cranebrook is set to receive a make-over with a grant of $46,599 for a new gathering space.
“Last year community groups, councils, charities and private organisations were encouraged to put forward projects that would help improve our local area under the NSW Government’s Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF),” Stuart Ayres said.
“I’m thrilled that Wentworth Community Housing were successful and will proceed with their project.”
Mr McIntyre said ‘Our Place Our Gathering Space’ will create an outdoor space for local residents that is safe for children and parents to meet and where local organisations can deliver their mobile services and community engagement activities.
“22 Greenhalg St Cranebrook is an empty green space with a couple of young trees. This project will create a space which is simple but interesting, of high quality durable materials and inviting for neighbours to meet,” added Mr McIntyre
Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government promised to build stronger, more vibrant social housing communities and we’re delivering on that today with this project.
“This is all about creating communities that people are proud to call home, and I am looking forward to seeing the projects come to life,” Stuart Ayres said.
‘Our Place Our Gathering Space’ is due to be completed in March 2017.
The Our Place Our Gathering Space is among more than 120 projects across NSW that will benefit from $4.2 million in funding through the NSW Government’s Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF). The SHCIF is a three-year commitment to build stronger social housing communities through improvements to fencing, lighting, disability access and a whole range of community projects including playgrounds, communal gardens, basketball courts and skate ramps.
