Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian, Minister Assisting the Premier on Western Sydney, and Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres MP and Member for Blue Mountains Roza Sage today opened a new commuter car park at Glenbrook Station, giving customers more than 50 extra car spaces and added security and safety measures.
“The NSW Government is delivering modern, accessible, secure and integrated transport infrastructure where it is needed most, as part of the $770 million Transport Access Program,” Ms Berejiklian said today during a visit to Glenbrook Station.
“Customers have told us being able to drive to their train station and park is important, and the NSW Government is listening by delivering thousands of parking spaces at train stations and interchange hubs across the state.
“These significant improvements opening from today at Glenbrook Station show just how committed we are to improving public transport for our customers.”
Stuart Ayres said Glenbrook customers will not only benefit from the new commuter car park with 56 additional spaces, but also two new accessible parking spaces close to the station entrance.
“This is fantastic for the local community and I know commuters will be delighted to turn up each morning to use this brand new car park,” Stuart Ayres said.
“Wayfinding signage, footpaths and security fencing have also been upgraded, and there have been safety improvements to the pedestrian crossing, traffic island and station entrance.”
Mrs Sage said finishing touches will be added to the project in the coming weeks, including improving the lighting between the station and the new car park.
“We want to make life easier for commuters and this new car park and these additional improvements will be a major boost for customers in the region.”
Mrs Sage said the NSW Government remains committed to making improvements to public transport for the local community.
“Customers are telling us they absolutely love the refurbished V Set carriages that are being rolled out across the network, there are more stations being refreshed in coming months, and the Opal electronic ticketing system for public transport is also coming.”
