Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today welcomed the announcement by Minister for Disability Services John Ajaka that the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be coming to Nepean/Blue Mountains from July 2016.
Mr Ajaka said that today’s announcement acknowledges the hard work undertaken since July 2013 when the first NDIS trial site was established in the Hunter.
“The NSW Government is committed to breaking down barriers for people with disability and I am delighted to announce the rollout schedule for the NDIS in NSW,” Mr Ajaka said.
Stuart Ayres said that the NDIS is a once-in-a-generation social reform that will give choice and control to people with disability.
“I am pleased to announce that from 1 July 2016 people living in Penrith will be able to access the NDIS,’’ Stuart Ayres said.
“This announcement brings certainty to people with disability, their families and carers in the area.”
The NSW Government will build on the lessons learned from the Hunter trial site, and from the early rollout of the NDIS for children and young people aged 0-17 in Penrith and the Blue Mountains.
The NSW Government will continue to work with the Commonwealth Government and the National Disability Insurance Agency to ensure the best possible NDIS for NSW.’’
