Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith welcomes the news that road users will soon benefit from work under way to improve the surface of a two kilometre section of the M4 Motorway between Leonay and Lapstone.

Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government has provided $1.16 million to improve safety on this stretch and install new line marking between Russell Street and Governors Drive.

“The road seal is being milled to improve safety and grip on this stretch of road in line with feedback from the community.

“Work under way since last month continues until the end of July at night between 8pm and 5am excluding Saturdays and public holidays, weather permitting.

“Lane closures will be in place during work for the safety of road users and workers.”

Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including reduced speed limits.

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of noise from this work on nearby residents and businesses, including scheduling work at different locations each night.

Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience during this essential maintenance work.

Up to date information, including any date changes and detours will be displayed on electronic message signs along the road.
