Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today met and congratulated recipients of the 2014 Housing NSW, Youth Scholarship Awards.
The FACS Youth Scholarship Program assists eligible young people living in social housing, on the NSW Housing Register or living in crisis accommodation to complete the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or TAFE equivalent by providing a one-off payment of $2,000 to be spent on educational related items.
The scholarship aims to ensure that young people living in social housing or on the waiting list have every opportunity to complete their HSC and move on to higher education. Past recipients of the scholarships have gone on to university and have then moved into successful careers.
Recipients of the 2014 scholarships are:
Filip Gievski – Kingswood High School
- Shayla Hadfield – Cranebrook High School

- Michael Bloxsome – Cranebrook High School
- Travis Cobb – Cranebrook High School

“The scholarship funds can be used to purchase items or services which will assist the students in completing the HSC or TAFE equivalent, such as text books, IT equipment, or study resources,” said Stuart Ayres.
“I commend all these students for their achievements and applaud their dedication to completing their studies,” added Stuart Ayres.
