Business owners who employ more staff may be eligible up to $4,000 in new payroll tax rebates under legislation being introduced to Parliament this week, Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres said today.
\”This legislation, which was outlined in our Jobs Action Plan delivers on another key commitment we made before the election.\” Mr Ayres said.
\”The $4,000 rebate is the equivalent of the annual payroll tax bill paid by businesses to hire someone on an average wage. The intention is to work with business in breaking down taxation barriers which impede them employing more people.
\”With a large number of small and medium sized businesses based in our region this announcement will encourage local businesses to hire more staff.
“Our region needs more jobs for young people, jobs in the trades and jobs in manufacturing. Our region and our close proximity to the M7 puts us at a strategic advantage for many businesses including people who are investing in logistics and distribution.
\”These incentives announced today when combined with the decisive action on the Erskine Park Link Road will help create the business activity we need locally to create jobs and break our dependence on other parts of Sydney for employment.\”
The announcement was welcomed by Penrith Business Alliance chair Paul Brennan.
\”With payroll tax rates in NSW among the highest in the country this an important first step in making Penrith and the rest of New South Wales a more attractive place to invest.\” Mr Brennan said.
\”If we are to attract business to Penrith we need to provide quality infrastructure and a tax structure which doesn’t punish businesses who wish to expand their operations.\”
