Green Slip Refunds Available Now for Penrith Residents

Green slip refunds

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today announced that just over 26 percent of motor vehicle owners across Penrith have claimed their CTP Green Slip refund, however many people are still to claim the money owed to them.

“I encourage anyone who has yet to claim their refund to get online to claim or visit their nearest Service NSW centre,” said Stuart Ayres.

The NSW Government last year overhauled the CTP Green Slip Scheme to create a more affordable, lower cost scheme. In addition to lower premiums in 2018, the Government is providing partial refunds to the owners of vehicles across the state with insurance premiums calculated based on the cost of the old scheme.

Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said that, as a result of the Government’s reforms, over $2.3 million will be returned to vehicle owners across Penrith.

“The new CTP scheme is delivering a big win for motorists through lower premiums, greater protections for those injured on the road and refunds on premiums paid during 2017,” Mr Dominello said.

Stuart Ayres said: “The new CTP scheme is delivering significant savings for motorists. The average Green Slip price this year across outer metro areas will be $407 down from $571 projected without reform, this represents a saving of $164.”

“This reform is just another example of how the NSW Government is reducing the cost of living,” added Stuart Ayres.

Eligible motorists with a MyServiceNSW email account will receive an email advising them of their refund in the coming weeks. The refund will be processed through their MyServiceNSW account and paid into a bank account of their choice. Vehicle owners who do not have a MyServiceNSW account can check online if they are eligible for a refund (www.service.nsw.nsw.gov.au/greensliprefund) or by creating an account between 7pm and 7am.

Refunds will be available until 30 September 2018. This is one of a raft of NSW Government measures helping to ease cost of living pressures for households. The Government has also introduced free car registration for regular toll users, cheaper hospital car parking, and the FuelCheck app.

Refunds will be available online at service.nsw.gov.au/greensliprefund during the evening from 7pm until 7am from Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday.
