Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today announced that students and staff at Cambridge Gardens Public School will soon benefit from a new security fence with the contract being awarded to local Penrith business Mega Fencing Pty Ltd.
Stuart Ayres said I am thrilled with the news that construction will soon be starting up.
“I know how important this is for the Cambridge Gardens Public School community and I look forward to seeing the works get underway,” Stuart Ayres said.
“The NSW Government is committed to delivering for our community and investing in public education infrastructure. I know this community has long advocated for the new fence and I am pleased our Liberals & Nationals Government is delivering it.”
Minister for Education, Sarah Mitchell said that the project will provide the school with approximately 600 metre perimeter fencing and CCTV cameras.
“This will improve the safety of students, staff and visitors during and after school hours, and better protect the school facilities.
“Schools are better funded under this government than ever before. We are building on our long-term commitment to improve the infrastructure at our local schools, delivering a pipeline of new and upgraded schools and also funding security upgrades like these,” Ms Mitchell said.
The design of the new fence has been completed, with installation scheduled to be completed before the end of the year.
The project is part of the Department of Education’s Security Initiatives Program announced in the 2021/22 NSW Budget.
The NSW Government is investing $7.9 billion over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver 215 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
