All Local School Zones Enforced

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today reminds motorists that school zones are in place for all schools until the final day of the 2019 NSW Education Department school term.

“Although some schools finish earlier than the official gazetted NSW Education Departments end of term date, the 40km/h school zones are still enforced,” said Stuart Ayres.

“Private schools may end earlier in December however drivers are reminded to remain vigilant and obey the school zone signs,”

“This year all school zones are enforced until and including Friday 20 December and back to school zones come into effect on Tuesday 28 January 2020.”

Most school zones in NSW operate from 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm, but a small number operate at different times. School zones with different operating times have different coloured signage and operating hours clearly displayed.

“School children are some of the most vulnerable people on the road and 40km/h school zones are an important way to keep them safe as they make their way to and from school,” Stuart Ayres said.
