Parents of school children across New South Wales are encouraged to take advantage of the $100 ‘Active Kids’ rebate for sporting and fitness related costs launching early next year.
Treasurer Dominic Perrottet and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres today released the ‘Active Kids’ Rebate Guidelines explaining how families can take advantage of the rebate from January 31 next year.
“This rebate was the soul of this year’s State Budget because it addressed what matters most – helping families by easing their cost of living,” Mr Perrottet said.
“As a parent, I know how important it is to keep your kids physically active, but I also know how household costs can add up.
“We want to ease the pressure on families where we can, and our hope is that parents take advantage of this rebate and enrol their children in their preferred sport.”
Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said from 31 January 2018 parents will be able to log into the Service NSW Active Kids account to find registered providers for their preferred activity and those operating in their local area.
“Every dollar counts in the household budget and this is $100 back into the pockets of mums and dads so more kids can play sport,” Mr Ayres said.
“We’re helping to ensure families don’t have to stretch their budgets to ensure their kids are active and healthy.”
The Office of Sport is continuing to work active recreation peak bodies and State Sporting Organisations to pre-load them into the Service NSW Active Kids platform to ensure parents can redeem vouchers with a wide range of registered providers on launch of the program.
From 31 January 2018, parents/guardians/carers of an eligible child resident in NSW will be able to download vouchers from the online platform or at any Service NSW Centre.
