Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith met with Karen McKeown, Mayor of Penrith City Council (PCC) to announce a grant of $40,000 for the upgrade of floodlighting at Doug Rennie Fields, Kingswood.

“The lighting upgrade for Doug Rennie Fields will enable night competitions to take place and make evening training much safer,” said Stuart Ayres.

Doug Rennie Fields is utilised by the Penrith Junior Rugby League Association who are in their 50th year of operation with 4453 members within the Penrith LGA and is the home field of the Penrith Waratahs JRLC.  The club has a total of 17 teams, comprising 12 junior sides and 5 senior sides; and works extremely hard in providing community sports programs and raising funds to invest in the facility, most notably the canteen and installation of a shade structure.

The floodlighting project will involve replacement of existing lighting to comply with current Australian Standards and improve field sustainability by enabling all playing field surfaces to be utilised.

The total cost of the project will be approximately $100,000 with funding of $40,000 from the NSW State Government. Penrith City Council will contribute the balance.

“I am proud to have recommended this project for funding and am certain it will be a great benefit to all the clubs which utilise this facility,” added Stuart Ayres.
